Samantha Walker Creative Team Blog Hop

Hi all!  Welcome to the very first Samantha Walker blog hop!  If you just came from Cristal's blog then you are on the right track.  If not, you can begin the hop on the Samantha's blog here.

The rules of the hop are very simple.  Just leave a comment of your thoughts on this blog, to get an entry into our contest to give away one set of Luminarte twinkling H2O's, and some Samantha Walker Products. Get up to 9 more contest entries if you leave a comment on each of the participating blogs within our blog hop. Comment by Sunday, December 12th, winner will be announced on Monday December 13th.

Okay, so for my first project I used Samantha's Christmas In The Kitchen collection from Creative Imaginations.  I love the warm traditional Christmas colors of the line, and the dark brown color of the "Chocolate Fudge" pattered paper, kind of reminded me of  gingerbread - So I  was inspired to create this little house ornament for my daughter's Kindergarten teacher.

For the roof, I used the Silhouette to cut border strips from the "Scalloped Circle Border Set" file.  I also used a border from the  "Scalloped Border Set 2"  on the back of the house to add a little detail, as you can see in the picture below.

I had fun embellishing the house with stickers from the 12" X 12," In The Kitchen Sticker Sheet. I applied them to the eve of the roof, the chimney, the bottom of the house and around the base of the ornament. I even used the small dots that were in the scalloped border sticker (used on the chimney) on the ornament too.

For the base of the ornament I used a recycled box lid. I punched a hole in the center of the lid then threaded a beaded tassel through the hole and secured the end with tape. The house was then adhered to the base.

Here's a close up of the White Swirl Diecut Cardstock on the back of the house. I just love it against the brown paper -  it almost looks just like frosting!!! Yummy! :)

After browsing through Samantha's Silhouette Design Portfolio I fell in love with her antique clocks files. The one I chose to use for this project was the Antique Inspired Clock 3.  I decided to use the file to create a template, so I could cut the image out of wood. I simplified the shape of the clock slightly, to make it easier to cut, but the basic shape is the same.

The clock was cut out of 2  - 9" x 12" pieces of wood that were about 3/4" thick.  I wanted the clock to be  fairly thick, so it could stand. So once the pieces were cut, I adhered them together for he finished thickness of 1 1/2".  The clock face and the red decorative piece near the bottom of the clock were cut out of layers of chipboard.

The painted wood finial was embellished with the scalloped edge of the Lagoon Dot Diecut Cardstock
and a few pennants from the 2 Christmas Trees and Pennant Banner file. I also cut a the border from the Borders Wacky Set in yellow and attached it to the top edge of the clock. To make the border curve around the clock more easily, I pinched or creased the area in between each scallop.

Don't you just love that Abstract Wreath I used in the center of the clock face? So cute!!! The Antique Inspired Clock Hands  are also a favorite of mine - I think they add charm to the piece.

These little trees were cut using Samantha's 2 Christmas Trees and Pennant Banner file.  And again as you can see I used the White Swirl Diecut Cardstock, but this time I coated the cardstock with glitter and added a few pearls.

Well, that's it for me! Thanks so much for hopping by!

Here are a few more close-ups before I go.
