Maya Road and Glue Arts Swap

Hi Guys!  Hope you are all having a great week so far. Things have been a little crazy around here the last couple of weeks, as we are trying to sell our house. Have you ever tried to keep your house "view ready" with a five and six year old running around? Not easy!   Anyway I'm back to share another Mother's Day project with you. This was made for the Maya Road and Glue Arts Swap going on this week. Make sure to visit each blog and leave a comment for a chance to win some goodies!!! :)

I love making gift boxes especially when they have a practical use.  This gift box can be used to store treads, bobbins, and other small sewing items after the gift has been removed and the teapot serves as a pin cushion as well. I used Samantha Walker's cream polka dot fabric on the front of the teapot, which worked perfectly with October Afternoon's Daydream patterned papers.

  1. Glue all but one, of the pages from the Teapot Album together.
  2. Then place a good handful of Poly-fil in the center of the teapot.
  3. Take some fabric and cut it large enough to cover the sides and front of the teapot. Begin wrapping the fabric over the polyfil and sides of the chipboard and secure with glue.
  4. Next cover the sides of the handle, spout and lid with patterned paper.
  5. Use the last page from the album (that you saved) to cut out a lid, spout and handle. Cover them with patterned paper and glue them in place on the front of the teapot.
  6. Cut out a rectangular section at the bottom of the felt pom-pom, so it fit's over the very top of the chipboard lid, glue it in place, then use a smaller felt pom-pom and trinket pin to hold everything in place.

After dying the crochet trim with Maya Mist (Sea foam Green) I used it to embellish the teapot and box.

Then of course,  I used load of other MR embellies to finish of the box. Love those tiny spools!!!
