Bug A Boo!!!

Before....

.......and after.

This was done for another challenge over at Mothers and Daughters Creations. The challenge was to create an altered Halloween project that incorporated pictures.

Jaiden was a ladybug for Halloween in 2005 and then in 2006 Jacob got the costume as a "hand me down". I thought it would be kind of nice, to have both of their pictures together on the same project.
The spider was cut out of some thick chipboard, in three sections, the head, the left set of legs and the right set. Then I used some glittered cardstock to cover each section.

Supply list:
Patterned paper - Pink Paislee and Basic Grey
Lace cardstock - KI Memories, Glittered cardstock - Doodlebug Designs
Chipboard - Basic Grey (leaves and bottom section of hat), Fancy Pants (scroll) Heidi Swapp (letters), raw chipboard (to make the top section of the hat and the spider).
Journaling tags - K & Company
Letter stickers - Making Memories
Bling - Me and My Big Ideas
Other - Buttons, wire, embroidery floss and waxed twine.

A few more pictures of my little "bug a boo's"
If I don't post anything before Friday, have a fun and safe Halloween!!!

Same Inspiration Different Project

Just a quick post to share another project from the same inspiration piece as my last post. This a very easy project made from a recycled embellishment box covered with patterned paper and some chipboard.
When Jaiden was a baby she loved being outside and playing with the grass, she'd practically try to pull herself out of her bouncer so she could get her little hands on it. Needless to say when I wanted to take pictures I'd head out to her "happy spot" in the grass so I could snap away while she played.

A new layout!

Hope everyone had a good weekend. I still haven't got the ink for my computer yet, so I have resorted to using old pictures from my stash, which is a good thing I guess. For this layout I was totally inspired by a challenge over at a new blog I found called Mothers and Daughters Creations. I was going for a shabby chic kind of look and I remember a demo Sasha did on distressing corrugated cardboard a while back and thought it would work well for this layout. I like how the layout turned out , I think it fits my Mom perfectly.

Supply List:

Patterned Paper - Making Memories, Scenic Route Papers, Creative Imaginations and Basic Grey
Rub-ons - My Minds Eye
Transparency - Hambly Screen Prints
Paint - Making Memories
Chipboard - Making Memories, Maya Road and Basic Grey
Ribbon - Making Memories
Buttons - Autumn Leaves
Other - Embroidery floss and cardstock from Hobby Lobby

A Stocking Update!!!

Here is a Christmas card I designed for a special young lady who is away at college. She has an addiction to shoes, so I thought this would be perfect for her.

I used up the rest of my Scenic Route, Loveland scraps for this card. The sole / heel of the boot is made out of a small chipboard scroll and chipboard circle, the toe is a chipboard paisley.

***EDITED***
I've added a template for this card, it does not include the toe, sole or heel of the boot. You will need to use your own chipboard to create these. It's the first time I've added a template, so if you have any questions or problems let me know.

Supply List:

Patterned Paper - Scenic Route Papers
Chipboard - Creative Imaginations (paisley) and Fancy Pants (scroll)
Rub-ons - Bo Bunny
Pearl embellishments - K & Company
Other - Micro beads, sequins and floss from Hobby Lobby.

Still working on my layout. My printer ran out of ink this weekend and so I decided to try one of those ink refill kits. Well, I'm not sure what I did wrong, but when I printed out a picture it looked pretty awful!! I guess I going to have to spend the cash and get an ink cartridge after all. Oh well!!!

Guess who!!!

Guess who's the spotlight designer at 3D Design Challenge today???? If you haven't had a chance to check out this blog, you really should. They have great templates for 3D projects. If you've ever needed a mini album or gift box in a pinch, you'll absolutely love this site. You just select the project you want, print out the template and create your project. Easy!
Remember the "I {heart} you" gift bag, I made that was using their 2468 box template
Pam and Carrie are also really great at showing you different ways of using the same template. Those girls are full of fabulous ideas. Thanks for the "spotlight" guys!!!

I'm actually working on a layout and a card right now. I know can you believe it!!! I haven't done either one in a while. Maybe they'll be ready to post by Monday.

Have a great weekend everyone!!!

Soldier Boy

Here is a project I did a while ago that was suppose to be in the Scrapbook Trends "Celebrate the Holidays" magazine. Unfortunately they decided not to use it at the last minute, of course I was completely bummed about it , but the scrapbook supplies and magazines they sent more than made up for it.
I've added the "How To" on this one since I've had a couple of people request I start doing so.
Next time, I do a I'll try to take pictures and walk you through the project step by step. Have fun!

Soldier Boy Tree Ornament

Supplies used:

One Heart One Mind

Patterned paper: (Christmas Argyle, Cut-a-part CardMarker and Bits-n-pieces sheet

from Merry Merry line and Royal Opera from the Formality collection)

Cardstock (Brighton)

Brads

K & Company

Pearls

Paper Ribbon

DCWV

Glittered matstock

Other

Nutcracker ornament from Hobby Lobby, beads, paint, Mod Podge glue, pom poms and glitter.

1. Remove all the fur from the nutcrackers head and chin, then sand off any glue reside left behind, Carefully remove the arms and the bayonet to make altering easier.

2. Next paint the face, shoulders, cuffs, hands, boots, bayonet and base of the nutcracker.

3. Begin covering the nutcracker with patterned paper. I found working from top to bottom to be the easiest way, also working with small sections of paper, instead of trying to cover a whole section at a time. For example, I covered the top of the hat first, then the front section of the hat and then the back. The jacket was pieced together in four sections, the sides, the front top section and then the front bottom section. The legs, arms and base were simply covered with small strips of paper.

4. Cut a strip of Glitter Matstock (approx. 3/4" x 3") then cut small slits along one of the 3" edges. (These slits are about half way up the strip.) Cut the strip into three sections and the glue each section to the nutcracker's head. Separate the slits and the curl the end of the hair with a piercing tool or something similar.

5. Use a two black beads for the eyes and a peach bead for the mouth of the nutcracker, glue them onto the face with some Diamond Glaze glue.

6. Next put paper ribbon on the shoulders of the nutcracker, then brush a thin layer of Mod Podge over the sleeves of the jacket and sprikle them with glitter. A layer of Mod Podge and glitter is also applied to the body of the jacket. When the sleeves and jacket are dry, glue them back together again with some wood glue.

7. Apply small pearls to the jacket as buttons and mini pom poms to the hat.

8. Next cut thin strips of patterned paper to make the belt, sash bayonet trim and the strap of the hat. (I used the border from the Royal Opera pattered paper.) The strip used for the belt was mounted to some cardstock first and then a buckle was made from cardstock rectangles.

9. Use two brads to embellish the strap on the hat. To do this I cut the prongs off the back of the brads and used Diamond glaze to glue them in place.

10. Lastly glue the bayonet back in place.

Looking for a good home...

.....for this little duckling!!!

Wouldn't this be a cute "welcome baby" gift? I could just see it sitting on a shelf in a nursery . I did this for the Bo Bunny paper piecing contest last month. But when I was finished with it I wasn't sure if it really was "paper piecing". Whether it is or not, I think this is one of my favorite projects so far. You might not be able to tell from the photo, but the patterned papers are really rich and they have an iridescent sheen to them that's really pretty.

My "baby girl" just turned 4 a couple days ago so I was thinking I'd do a RAK. Just leave a comment on this post and this little duckling could be yours, along with a few scrapping supplies.

You have till Saturday to leave a comment. I'll randomly pick a winner and post the winner on Sunday. Sorry, but only US residents are eligible.

Supply List:

Patterned paper - Bo Bunny
Bling - Glitz Designs
Felt rick-rack - Walmart
Duckling and bead - Hobby Lobby
