Look who's turning three!

This Sunday is Jacob's third birthday, I can't believe it!!! Wasn't it just yesterday when I brought him home from the hospital? :) Here's a recent picture of "the little stinker" trying to squirt paint on me as I'm taking his picture! Anyway, I decided to make a card as one of my Helmar USA assignments, to celebrate his birthday. He can look at it, but definitely NO TOUCHING!! Too many beads - plus he just loves to tear stuff up!!! (lol)

I made the base of the card using the Mini Square Dots stencil from The Crafter's Workshop. I love scallops, it's just one of those trends I just can't let go!! The cardstock stars are also made using a stencil, for those I used the Boom Boom Boom 12"x12" stencil. The Crafter's Workshop is one of Helmar's preferred partners, I got a ton of really cool stencils, so you'll be seeing me using them quite often, I'm sure.

For this assignment my focus was suppose to be the Premium Craft Glue, but as you can see from supply list I used quite a few other adhesives too.

The patterned paper strip and transparency were adhered using the Quick Fix Permanent Adhesive Runner. In my design I could hide the glue on the transparency under the patterned paper, but if you ever need a glue that won't show up under a transparency the V2 Vellum Adhesive is perfect for that!

I used the Premium Craft Glue for the felt stars, ribbon and cardstock stars. The tiny beads were adhered using the Gemstone Glue. The gemstone glue starts out white, but dries clear, which I like a lot - I can see exactly where it is!!!

Supplies:
Helmar Premium Craft Glue
Helmar Gemstone Glue
Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots
Helmar Quick Fix Permanant Adhesive Runner
Crafter's Workshop - Stencils
Pink Paislee - Patterned Paper (black)
Basic Grey - Patterned Paper
Autumn Leaves - Felt ribbon
Hambly Screen Prints - Transparency
Hiedi Swapp - Iron on letters
Fancy Pants - Felt stars
Hobby Lobby - Beads
Bazzill - Cardstock

My next project is an altered paper mache box I picked up at Hobby Lobby for a couple bucks. I used Pink Paislee patterned papers, chipboard elements, borders and letters to decorate.

I basically just covered the box with patterned paper using the Acid Free Glue. Then used the Gemstone Glue to attach the pearls on the lid of the box. (The pearls came with an adhesive strip on the back, but when I separated the pearls I had to add more glue.)

I pleated the scalloped paper to add some texture to the top of the box and then used the Premium Craft Glue to adhere the chipboard strips.

All of the chipboard elements where self adhesive, but to give the butterfly a little more dimention I used the Liquid Scrap Dots. I also used The Liquid Scrap Dots on some of the chipboard letters.

Supply List:
Helmar Acid Free Glue
Helmar Premium Craft Glue
Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots
Helmar Gemstone Glue
Pink Paislee - Patterned paper, chipboard elements, chipboard border, glitter, chipboard letters, letter stickers and button.
Maya Road - Felt flower and stick pins
Mark Richards - Pearls
Bazzill - Tulle ribbon
Hobby Lobby - Egg shaped box and embroidery floss

Don't forget, you still have time to leave a comment on the Helmar blog for a chance to win some of the Crackle Medium. I made this little swatch to give you an example of how it transforms chipboard. This Crackle Medium is a two step process, but it's really easy.

Doesn't this effect look great on this little dinosaur !!
Now go leave a comment, so you can GET CRACKLING TOO!!!

Enjoy your weekend! :)

Happy Spring!

Hello at there, I have a couple things to share today, since I haven't posted in over a week!

My first project is my Pink Paislee blog assignment. It goes "live" today so please stop by the blog and check it out. My focus was on the journaling again, but I decided not to do a layout this time. Instead, I altered a sandal and added the journaling to it. Here's a peek!

This next project was created for Helmar USA and my son's room. It's an example of what you can do with Helmar's Fray Stoppa.
These letters were painted on the sides and then covered with patterned papers from Cosmo Cricket. Helmar Acid Free Glue was used to adhere the paper to the letters and the wood car.

Above you can see I tied the ribbon around the letter and the paperclip, then cut the ribbon and applied the Fray Stoppa to the raw edges. When it first went on, I was a little worried that It might stain the ribbon, but it dried perfectly clear, and look how nice and neat my ribbon looks. Love it!!!

Here I added ribbon around the edge of the car. To make sure the ribbon doesn't unravel I applied some of the Fray Stoppa to the cut ends.

For the letter "A" above I cut some denim scraps, then applied the Fray Stoppa to the raw edges. After about five minutes, when the denim was dry, I stitched along the top edges with embroidery floss then adhered it the rest of the project using Helmar's Premium Craft Glue.

Supply list:
Helmar Fray Stoppa
Helmar Premium Craft Glue
Helmar Acid Free Glue
Cosmo Cricket - Patterned paper, stickers, ribbon and chipboard
EK Success - Letters

Easter Treats

Happy Wednesday to you! I just wanted to post my last project for Creative Cuts & More. This die-cut is their Tug & Close Bag. I decided to make it into a mini Easter basket! I covered the whole thing with Scenic Route patterned papers. Stitched along the handle of the bag with embroidery floss, then embellished it with ribbon, buttons and some chipboard. One craft supply I can't seem to live without lately is the berry garland. This one is actually a Christmas garland, I just cut off a few branches and painted the berries light blue to match the rest of the project.

Supply List:
Creative Cuts & More - Tug and Close Bag #2 die cut
Scenic Route - Patterned paper, chipboard and sticker.
K & Company - Patterned paper
Pink Paislee - Ribbon (light teal)
Making Memories - Ribbon (pink)

Creative Cuts and More

Hi there, today I have a couple more projects to share with you from Creative Cuts & More. I've really enjoyed playing with with these die-cuts, the only hard part was figuring out what colors and materials to pick when I was ordering them. (LOL) Thanks Terry, for letting me be part of the team this month. I'm really having a great time.

Okay, here's my project! My original plan was to make a cute little bunny out of the Puff Box, but It didn't quite work out that way, as you can see! The more I looked at the box ,the more I kept seeing an owl, I guess I must have owls on the brain these days. Hope you guys don't mind ANOTHER OWL PROJECT!!!

Here's the supply list and how to put it together.

Supplies:
Creative Cuts & More - Die-cut puff box
Basic Grey - Patterned papers and brads
Technique Tuesday - Chipboard photo turns
Doodlebug Designs - Paper ribbon
Maya Roads - Chipboard wings, mini tag and stick pins
Prima - Flower
Other - Feather, twine and printer
Tools - Scalloped border punch and circle punches.

  1. First, cover front and the top of the puff box with the black polka dotted paper.
  2. Use glue to put the box together
  3. Use a scallop punch and cut four strips of patterned paper about four inches long.
  4. Glue the scalloped strips to the box starting near the bottom and working upward.
  5. Next cut a triangle out of patterned paper and add a strip of the decorative paper ribbon to one of the edges. Fold the beak in half to get a centered crease, then unfold it and glue it to the center of the box, just above the top row of scalloped strips. (Make sure the beak sits up slightly and is not laying flat.)
  6. Cover the 2 large photo turns with patterned paper. Then use a small circle punch to cut circles to go around the round part of each photo turn. Use a punch to cut 2, 1 inch circles out of patterned paper, then adhere them to the photo turn.
  7. Embellish the eyes with some chipboard circles and brads and attach them to the box.
  8. Cover the chipboard wings with patterned paper then adhere them to the box for the ears.
  9. Cut apart a flower to create the claws of the owl. (I used three petals for each one.) Glue the petals to the bottom of the box.
  10. To finish off the box, I printed out my sentiment then adhered it to a mini tag, tied the tag to the box with some twine then added a stick pin and a feather to embellish.

Here's another die-cut I got to play with!

All the patterned papers and stickers on this are by Scenic Route.

I love this Butterfly Box, Isn't it just perfect for spring!!! I was thinking of filling it with some seeds, and giving it to my mom this weekend. These little boxes are really a quick, easy and inexpensive way of gift wrapping something, to make it extra special!!!

Have a great weekend !

Delightful Baby!

I'm so excited to be the guest designer for Creative Cuts & More this Month. I've had a lot of fun creating all kinds of projects using die cuts. My first project is a gift box that can be used as a keepsakes box after the gift has been opened. Aren't these shoes the cutest? I knew I had to play with these die-cuts as soon as I saw them!!!

I covered the die-cuts on one side with a pink patterned paper and then stitched around the edges to make the shoes more realistic. I added a large brad for the shoe fasteners and chipboard leaves and felt flowers to decorate the front of the shoes. Then felt rick-rack was added to the bottom of the shoes as a sole.

Here is the completed box, ready for gift giving!

Supplies used:
Creative Cuts and More - Die cut baby shoes.
Pink Paislee - Patterned paper, letter stickers, rubons, chipboard and brads.
Bazzil - Tulle ribbon
Maya Road - Felt flowers
