More Helmar and Scribble Scrabble

My little girl recently told me that I hadn't made anything for her lately, so when I saw the colors of the Ruth collection by Scribble Scrabble, I thought of her immediately. I made this corkboard for her room, so she can hang up her favorite photos or her artwork. I found this one at Big Lots, but you can pick one up almost anywhere, inexpensively.

I covered the surface and sides of an art board with the patterned papers using Helmar's Acid Free Glue. If you can't find art board you can use anything that is square shaped and sturdy, I just used the art board because that's what I had laying around. The big chipboard flower was then covered with patterned paper and buttons. (I used the Gemstone Glue to apply the buttons.) To hold the paper rosette in the center together I used the 450 Quick Dry Adhesive. The border strips were applied using the Acid Free Glue.

I'm thinking I might make one of these for my mom for Mother's Day!

Helmar Acid Free Glue
Helmar 450 Quick Dry
Helmar Gemstone Glue
Scribble Scrabble - Patterned papers and die-cuts.
Pink Paislee - Border Topsiders
Making Memories - Chipboard flower and paint
Rusty Pickle - Buttons
Other - corkboard and art board

Scribble Scrabble Bangles!

One of the preferred partners for the Helmar design team is Scribble Scrabble. I received the the Evelyn collection and was immediately attracted to the bright, fruity colors. I decided to use it to make these fun bangles!!!

I was thinking about a Mother's Day gift when I started these, but as usual, I'll probably be keeping them for myself!!! If you would like to try making these, I have instructions on the Helmar blog.

Have a great day! :)

Manic Monday

Hello everyone, I hope you all had a fun weekend!
Today it's my turn to post my DT assignment over at the Pink Paislee blog. I used the Winsome Fetching line mostly for this project. You can see more details here.

By the way, I used Helmar's Crackle Medium on this frame, I love that stuff!!! I think it gives the project a kind of rustic kind of feel, don't you?

I'll be back in a day or two with a really quick, jewelry project idea.
See you soon,

Patchwork Piggy!

Me AGAIN!! - Can you believe it! I just wanted to share my latest project with you.
Rebecca from Pink Paislee, asked me if I could do this project for a charity event she was asked to participate in. Of course I said yes, since it was for charity and because the little piggy face she emailed me was too impossible to resist!!! :)

I decided to combine my two favorite companies, Pink Paislee and Helmar to complete this assignment. For more details and instructions on how to do this, you can go here.
Every time I look at this back view this comes to mind......
"Does this skirt make my butt look big??!!!!" It must be my subconscious telling me it's time to get rid of those extra pounds I've been holding on to!! :)

See you soon!

My Snow Angel

Hi guys, I hope you all had a wonderful Easter!

Today, I have a project to share with you all that's a little, okay, a lot out of season!!! But, I made it for a Christmas call. So here she is, my little snow angel!!!

I like traditional colors for Christmas, but I also love to "change it up" a little. One of my favorite color combos for Christmas is pink and green, so for this project I used Pink Paislee's Tinsel Town collection. The base is a star shaped box and the snowman is a little wood ornament. I combined the two to create a gift box / Christmas decor piece. If you click on the picture above you can see that I used punched circles of patterned paper to cover the snowman. It's an easy way to cover a three dimensional surface.

This is the snowman before he was altered.

Supply List
Pink Paislee: Patterned paper, Press Ons, Clear Stamp, Ribbon and Pixee Stix (Coconut)
Helmar: Craft and Hobby Glue, Premium Craft Glue and Gemstone Glue.
Other Supplies:
Maya Road: Chipboard wings and mini tag.
Rusty Pickle: Ribbon
Bazzill: Tulle ribbon
EK Success: Circle punch (1 inch)
Autumn Leaves: Buttons
Kaiser Craft: Pearls
Versa Color: Ink (Magenta)
Hobby Lobby: wood star shaped box, wood snowman, star pick, pompoms, wood snowflake, twine, beads and paint.

Thanks for stopping by,

Jen

Pink Paislee Blog Hop!!!

Spring is finally here! In my part of the world, the weather is just perfect and everything is showing signs of growth. Spring is definitely my favorite season. The Pink Paislee team and I have been busy making some spring and Easter projects to share with you today. Hopefully, you will be inspired to create something for this wonderful season!

My project is a fun little treat box. I made it using a small wood box and some Pink Paislee chipboard. Here are the directions and a instruction sheet to help you put it together.

Pink Paislee Supplies:
Patterned paper: Sweet Cakes - Honey Bunch, Cutie Pie, Lovey Dovey, Sugar Pie and Bewitching from the Fascinating line.
Fascinating - Chipboard Elements
Fascinating - Sticker Book
Fascinating - Winsome Alphabet Stickers
Enchanting - Chipboard Alphabet
Captivating - Chipboard Alphabet
Topsiders - Borders
Topsiders - Shapes
Sweet Cakes - Ribbon
Enchanting - Brads

Other Supplies:
Maya Road - flower and stick pins
Making Memories - mini letter stickers
Small wood box, rick-rack, brown, satin ribbon from local craft store.

Directions:
  1. Cover the inside and top edges of the box with the Bewitching patterned paper. The outside of the box is then covered with Honey Bunch patterned paper.
  2. Then cut a 3/4” strip of the Lovey Dovey patterned paper and cover the bottom section of the box.
  3. Next, cut another 3/4” strip using the Cutie Pie patterned paper, this time use a scalloped border punch along one of the edges before adhering it to the box. Tie some ribbon in between the two strips of patterned paper and form a bow in the front of the box.
  4. Use the striped border from the Fascinating Sticker Book to finish off the top edge of the box.
  5. Cover two tulip Chipboard Elements with the Sugar Pie patterned paper and attach them to the box as shown. Embellish the rest of the box with stick pins, a chipboard flower, a brad and tiny letter stickers, as seen in photo. TIP: To allow the box to sit level attach a strip of leftover chipboard from the Topsiders border set to the bottom of the box.
  6. Apply alphabet stickers and chipboard to the front of the box to spell out your title.
  7. To create the head and wings please see attached diagram.
  8. Once your pieces are cut out, cover them with with the remainder of the Honey Bunch patterned paper. Embellish the edges of the pieces with rick-rack.
  9. Attach the wings to the top of the box and then add some small circle stickers from the Fascinating Sticker Book.
  10. Wrap the satin ribbon around the chicks head, add the beak, (see instruction sheet for pattern) eyes (Chipboard Alphabet commas) and flower to complete the chicks head. To attach the chick to the box use the rectangle Topsider shape. Score it 1” down so it forms a sort of hinge, glue the 1 inch section to the back of the chick's head. Then glue the remainder of the flap to the back of the box.

Everyone on the team was asked to answer a few questions about themselves for the Blog Hop, so you could get to know us a little better. Here are my answers. :)

1. Where did you grow up? Do you still live there?
  • I grew up in England, my family and I moved to America when I was sixteen. I've moved around quite a bit since then, but Central Florida is my home now. I'm completely "American-ized" now - Not even an accent!!!! :)
2. What is a typical day like for you?
  • Mostly taking care of the kids, during the day, watching a little TV in the evening , then playing with my Pink Paislee goodies at night.
3. What is your favorite fashion accessory? Why?
  • Shoes, shoes, shoes!!! Why? Because!!!
4. What is playing on your ipod right now?
  • Kate Nash
5. Name one television show that you MUST TIVO each week?
  • It's not on now, but I always make sure Big Brother is recorded!
6. What is your favorite movie of all time?
  • Love and Basketball and When Harry Meet Sally. I know that's two movies but I couldn't decide!
7. What is your favorite Pink Paislee product?
  • That's a tough one........hmm, I'd have to say the Topsiders chipboard. I seem to use them on everything!
8. If you could only keep 1 scrapbooking tool what would it be?
  • My Exacto knife.
9. If you didn't scrapbook what other activity would you spend time on?
  • Cleaning the house!!! (lol) Seriously.... designing and making wood crafts, cross stitching, drawing, anything that's creative really.
10. What advice would you give to someone who wants to start scrapbooking?
  • Have fun! Once you've got the basics down, it's completely up to you! Whatever you do your family will love the results, they are "the stars" after all!!!
11. What would you say your scrapbook style is today?
  • I never know how to answer this question! Even more so now, that I haven't done that many layouts lately. Whether it's a altered piece or a layout, I guess I would say my style is usually "playful and fun."

Okay, now to the "GOOD STUFF" the prizes!!! All you have to do is leave a comment here after 9:00 am today and before Monday morning to be entered in the giveaway! The winner will be notified on Tuesday. So hop over to the Pink Paislee blog to find out where to go next. Here the AMAZING prize you'll be playing for!

Now get hoppin' and good luck!!!!
