Owl Love U.....

Hello again! Today I have a mini album to share with you. I still need to add a few more pages, but I really wanted to show you the altered cover. I jazzed up this half circle album a by adding various other chipboard shapes to create an owl.
ANOTHER OWL!!!.... (I hear you screaming) I know, I can't help myself! My name is Jennifer and I 'm an OWL-A-HOLIC!!! :)

As you can see, I used one of my favorite new Pink Paislee lines, Cupid to create this. I also had a lot of fun with the Shimmerz paints too. The above close up shows how I used some Blingz on some of the blue feathers. I also used Shimmerz Spritz on the eyes, wings and eyebrows.

The shimmery effect is a little hard to see in my picture above, so here is a close up of one of the eyes after I sprayed it with the Bamboo Leaf and Truffle spritz.

After I inked the eyebrows with brown liquid chalk, I sprayed them with the Bamboo Leaf spritz. I love the mottled effect that the spritz produced, a perfect texture for the owl.

Here are some of the pages I have done so far.

Supplies used:
Pink Paislee - Patterned paper, Brads, Border Stickers, Patches, Punchouts, Glitter Alphabets and Letter stickers from the Cupid line.
Shimmerz - Shimmerz Spritz (Bamboo Leaf, Truffle) and Blingz (Pixie Dust)
Maya Road - Album, chipboard wings, circles, petals and tree.
Kaiser Craft - Pearls
Berry Garland - Hobby Lobby

It's me!

Hello again, I know it's been a while. But I've been trying to catch up on some cleaning and other chores around the house, that have been neglected lately. I told my husband I need a maid to keep things on track. That way, I can play with patterned paper and embellishments all day. I don't think he was amused!!! Oh well, I can dream......

I have some pretty cool news to share. I have been asked to be a guest designer for Shimmerz, this September and October. I'm really thrilled! If you haven't had a chance to check out these shimmery paints, have a look here. You'll love the vibrant, rich colors!!! Also check out the design team blog for some really inspiring projects.

So anyway, after receiving my DT package I couldn't wait till next month to try them out. I have one project to share today and I'll share the other one tomorrow.

This is my Pink Paislee project for my blog post today - Thursday's Trends. The project features the new Twilight collection, that has starting shipping to stores already!!!! To see the entire post go here.

For this project I used the Bamboo Leaf, Shimmerz Spritz. Below you can see the front of the boot after it was sprayed with the Shimmerz. When the the rest of the boot is covered with patterned paper and chipboard, the paint adds a lot of contrast and interest to the project.

Here you can see boot heel. The Spritz gives it a really pretty greenish, gold shimmer.

The fabric patch seen here on the cuff of the boot, was also sprayed with the same Shimmerz Spritz, to color match with the sheer ribbon.

I'll see you soon,

I'm back!

Hi Guys, I'm back from CHA! It was so much fun to see all my favorite manufacturer's and their new products up close and personal! It was also nice to see all the fantastic projects and displays. But the best part of the show was hanging out with people who love scrapbooking and crafts as much as I do, meeting some blog buddies and making new friends.

If you can believe it, I don't have any photos to share!!! I had planned to take all my photos on the last day of the show. But ended up not going because my car got broken into. I'm so glad my hubby and family decided to tag along with me to Orlando, otherwise I would have been frantic! All they took was the GPS system thank goodness!!! ( The kids call it the "go left, go right machine.") But besides that, the whole experience was tons of fun, I hope I'll be able to go again soon.

Before I go, I want to share another one of my CHA projects. This was a coaster set from Joann's that Rebecca sent me to alter with the new Cupid line. It was the last project I had to do and I just couldn't figure out what to do with it!!! I have to say thank you to my brilliant son, Demet who helped me come up with this idea!!! He also suggested a watering can and toaster which would make really cute albums too.

So this is what you will start out with, a coaster holder with a set of coasters.

Then using some chipboard create a lid, handle and spout similar to the ones above. The handle is four layers of chipboard stuck together to give it some strength. I also decide to make the handle go all the way around to form a "D" shape instead of the backward "C" shape shown here.
For the lid, you can use a medium sized wood bead, ball or wheel, which is what I ended up using. Once you have all your pieces made, it's just a matter of covering all the components with patterned paper. Use a good strong glue to attach the handle and spout to the coaster holder. I used Helmar's Craft & Hobby Glue.

As you can see, I used two punches for this project, the Lace border punch and the Scallop Sentiment border punch both by Fiskars. I love these punches, they are a little pricey but I use them so often, it was worth the price.

To apply the brad to the top of the lid cut off the brad prongs first then glue the brad directly onto the bead.

When drilling the holes in the coasters, I taped them altogether with masking tape first, marked where I wanted the holes to go, then drilled through all four of them at once. The rest of the album is really easy to put together. Just remember to make sure not to make the pages too bulky, otherwise it might not fit inside the holder.

Album cover

Inside the album, I left room for the kids to write some journaling above their picture.

Thanks for visiting.
