Smile

Hello, everyone.  Over on the Doodlebug blog for the next week or so,  the team and I will be sharing our take on the  "chunky twine" challenge.  After finding this fun image in the Silhouette store, I decided to use the twine to make colorful pom-poms drops for some cloud wall art.  Here are the finished results.

Here's the finished piece  hanging in my daughter's room.

Come over to the DB blog for more details on this project.

Easter Express

Hello, everyone. Today a have another Easter project to share. This time featuring the new Bunnyville collection. I found this little train set, in the kids craft section at Joanne's and decided to turn it into an Easter, treat holder.

Each of the larger cars had a roof, so I carefully removed them. Then I covered over the windows with chipboard before I started covering them with patterned paper.

The majority of this project used patterned papers from the 6x6 paper pad. The smaller prints worked perfectly for the scale of this project.

For more details on this project check out my post on the Doodlebug blog.

Thanks for stopping by. :)

This was done for a "inspired by..." design team challenge. The inspirational piece, by Shelley McDaniel can be seen below.

More details can be found on the Doodlebug blog.

A couple days after completing this project, I decided to attach it to a wreath I had made last year. So here's a look at another option to try.

Easter House

Hello everyone. Today it's my turn to share a project on the Doodlebug blog. I created this little Easter house using a cutting file, which can be found here.  I changed the design slightly by cutting out the door and curling up the ends on the roof.  I also decided to use stacked box lids for the base, instead of cutting out the base provided.  The finished size of the piece is approximately 6 1/2" x 10".

For more pics and details you can go HERE. Thanks for joining me today.

Peace, Love and Happiness

Hello everyone! It's been a while, but I'm back and ready to share a couple of fun Spring projects with you. I should have posted this on here last month, but luckily this wreath can be adapted to fit any season. I used lots of paper twine on this, one of my "go to" supplies, lately! :)

Full project pics and directions can be found on the Maya Road here. One thing not mentioned on the MR blog are the file Silhouette files used. They were chick holding egg, 3d rolled spiral flowers, 3d layered bow, and scalloped borders.

My next project is a piece I created for a guest spot for SVG Cuts.

Here's a link to how it was made and the files I used.

Some Bunny Loves You!

Hello everyone and Happy Valentine's Day! I made it back just in time to share my V- day bunny.

Here she is in a close up. Technically, I made her as a Valentine's decoration, but she's become a little pin cushion holder and now sits on a shelf just above my work area.

This project was very simple to make. The  pattern / image (seen below) is actually from my Silhouette library. I used a sketch pen to draw the image onto some cardstock, then cut it out by hand to make the pattern. After tracing out the images  onto some felt, I cut the pieces out and added about a 1/4" around each piece for the seam allowance.

The two body pieces were stitched together, turned inside out then stuffed. The ears were stitched together and turned inside out also, but instead of stuffing them I used a blanket stitch around the outer edges.  The ears were then stitched onto the head. For the front paws, I cut them out freehand. I wanted them to hold the heart and the original design's feet wouldn't have worked, as I needed them to look more like hands. I also decided to add a white muzzle, (which was also cut freehand) to the face and omit the teeth. The base the bunny is sitting on, is made out of a paper mache box lid. The lid was covered in felt and then embellished  with a felt border, ribbon and flower.

Supplies Used:
Fancy Pants - felt arrow, flowers and frames.
Maya Road - red flower
Basic Grey - felt trim and small hearts
Hobby Lobby - felt, paper mache box lid, stuffing, embroidery thread, micro beads, wood dowel.
Other - cardstock, black marker, brad, felt ric-rac and printer.

Have a great Valentine's Day!

Plumeria Projects!

Hi all!  Today I'm back with a couple projects I should have posted a while ago. Both of these projects use Basic Grey's Plumeria collection which is versatile enough for a lot of different occasions. I used the collection for an Easter word sign and Spring gift box. Since Easter is long gone I'd better share that project first!

I got this "Easter" sign from Hobby Lobby last year, in their after season sale. I basically just covered the whole thing in patterned papers, used some crochet trim around the edges of larger letters and then used some fun  chipboard  and accordion sticker embellishments to finish it off.

Here's a close up. Don't you love that navy blue patterned paper! :)

My next project is a gift box just in time Spring! This is a pattern I've used before by Tonya Renee. It's just too cute to use once.

For the yellow ruffles around the rabbit's neck I separated the Buttercup in Bloom petals before hot gluing them around her neck. The pink flowers on the headband from are from a Blush in Bloom blossom,  I just added mini pom poms to the center of each one.

Thanks for stopping by,

Jen

Samantha Walker Blog Hop

Hello again and welcome to the Samantha Walker blog hop! If you just left Julie's blog then you're on the right track, if not you can start the hop here on Samantha's blog. Just leave a comment on this and all the other blogs along the way, for your chance to win a prize package of patterned papers and stickers from Samantha
Walker's Cowboy Collection.

Okay, so I'm still enjoying playing with fabrics and thought Samantha's Enchanted Garden collection by Riley Blake, would be perfect for a Spring project. The pattern I used for the bunny had a more primitive feel but since Samantha's fabrics are more contemporary I wanted to keep the bunny that way too. So instead of torn edges on the bottom of the pants and dress I finished the hems with pleated and gingham ribbons.

To make the pinwheel I "mod podged" two fabrics together, so it became double sided. Once the fabric dried I became more like paper and I could cut and bend it to shape.

Thanks so much for visiting!   Next up is the talented Nancy Doren, you can click the logo below to hop to her blog.

 Fabrics used:
Samantha Walker's Enchanted Garden Collection for Riley Blake:

Other Supplies:

Maya Road  - Pleated satin ribbons and felt flowers

Happy Spring!

Hello at there, I have a couple things to share today, since I haven't posted in over a week!

My first project is my Pink Paislee blog assignment. It goes "live" today so please stop by the blog and check it out. My focus was on the journaling again, but I decided not to do a layout this time. Instead, I altered a sandal and added the journaling to it. Here's a peek!

This next project was created for Helmar USA and my son's room. It's an example of what you can do with Helmar's Fray Stoppa.
These letters were painted on the sides and then covered with patterned papers from Cosmo Cricket. Helmar Acid Free Glue was used to adhere the paper to the letters and the wood car.
Go Play_Y_Closeup
Above you can see I tied the ribbon around the letter and the paperclip, then cut the ribbon and applied the Fray Stoppa to the raw edges. When it first went on, I was a little worried that It might stain the ribbon, but it dried perfectly clear, and look how nice and neat my ribbon looks. Love it!!!
GoPlay_Car

Here I added ribbon around the edge of the car. To make sure the ribbon doesn't unravel I applied some of the Fray Stoppa to the cut ends.

GoPlay_A_Closeup

For the letter "A" above I cut some denim scraps, then applied the Fray Stoppa to the raw edges. After about five minutes, when the denim was dry, I stitched along the top edges with embroidery floss then adhered it the rest of the project using Helmar's Premium Craft Glue.

Supply list:
Helmar Fray Stoppa
Helmar Premium Craft Glue
Helmar Acid Free Glue
Cosmo Cricket - Patterned paper, stickers, ribbon and chipboard
EK Success - Letters
American - Crafts Brads
Bazzill - Paperclip
Basic Grey - Buttons
Making Memories - Paint
Hobby Lobby - Car

Lastly, I just wanted to let you know Helmar is having another GIVEAWAY!!! This month you have a chance to win Helmar Crackle.
You have till the end of the month to leave a comment on the Helmar USA blog. Good Luck!!!

See you soon and HAPPY SPRING!!!! :)

This chick gets to go to CHA!!!

I know, I know the chick is pink, but I had Jaiden with me when I was buying the supplies for this and she suggested PINK! ...... How could I to argue with "The Queen of Pinkness"!!!

This little chicka gets to go to CHA next week! So I'm pretty excited about that! I'm not going, but hopefully I should be able to go to the summer show.

Okay, so this is another wood craft I found at Hobby Lobby.
Here's a picture of the piece before it was altered, so if you want to make one you'll know what your looking for.

For most of this project (except where noted) I used the Helmar Craft and Hobby PVA Glue, perfect for wood crafts like this, because your paper doesn't bubble and has a fast drying time. So basically, I just made a little sign using chipboard, covered it with some patterned paper and added chipboard borders. Then I added a few embellishments, brads, ribbon and some strips of patterned paper. The chipboard letters and stickers were glued onto the sign using Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots. They needed to stand out more, because the background was so busy!

The edges of the egg and feet were painted and then I covered the surfaces with patterned paper.
The chicks head is a large pom pom with the ribbon and the eyes stitched into place. A beak was made from cardstock and patterned paper was then glued onto the pom-pom, using the Helmar Premium Craft Glue. I cut another pom pom in half and used the loose fur to cover the lower part of the chicks body. The leftover fur was used to create a wing.

Since I decided to put one of the chicks legs at an angle, I mounted it onto a 3"x5" oval base to give it some strength and stop it toppling over. The little basket shown was made out of a wood napkin ring.

Supply list:

Helmar Craft & Hobby PVC Glue
Helmar Premium Craft Glue
Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots
Patterned paper - Heidi Grace and Collage Press
Chipboard border - Pink Paislee
Chipboard letters - Basic Grey
Brads and paint and letter stickers - Making Memories
Velvet ribbon - We R Memory Makers
Cardstock - Bazzill
Wood cut out, 3" x 5" oval wood base, wood napkin ring, rick-rack, ribbon roses, pom-poms and beads - Hobby Lobby
